Front page

LOGO
The logo will be a simple black outline because I'm planning for the background to be colorful images so the logo will stand out against it all.

IDEA 1
 Original photo
I edited the photo on Filter adding a sketch Water Paper effect, which made the color on the image brighter and vibrant. I placed the logo in the right hand corner because the left hand corner was too dark, the actual name of the magazine which is Tradition Movement in Century font is at the bottom in white because I thought made the text stand out. This is my first design for my front cover the theme or concept I am going for is portrait photo of a person representing cultural diversity i.e the colorfulness of cultures.

Magazine name\logo design

Different designs I did by hand, the one I like most was this.
I will try to develop this idea by hand and also experiment on Photoshop try to make it 3D with shadows. The colour I want to be bold and simple thick black outline with one of the primary colours red, yellow or blue.

Completing my feature spread

Selected photos to edit

Image 7.

I drew the robot heads on Photoshop by using the brush tool.
Sometimes change the size of the brush to add detail on the features of the head such as the mouth and eyes.
Simply trying to keep a straight line to draw the head shape.

Edited photos with the background cleared and the added robot heads.

Page layouts
With the completed images I placed them on the page.

The font I used to write the information about the clothes on the robot heads was OCR Std.

FINAL OUTCOME

IllustrationLayout

For the Matthew Midgley part of the page I place couple images and the font downloaded form Dafont called Accents I kept the font quite small. The text I wrapped around the image of the converse and turned it around diagonal.
The Georgina Luck section is simple with the title being big and decorative at the top center of the page the font style is Little Snorlax which I thought was quite illustrative. The text I kept simple and straight.
The Natsko Seki section is similar to the Lucks, the title is Gothic. All the lines were made using the Brush Tool with a brush stroke.
Final design of the Illustration page.

Fashion page layout plan

The theme for my main feature spread is Fashion, I plan to take photos of my own of people outlining the individual photos with bold/thick lines. The images I take of people I plan to crop their heads out and draw robotic faces on by hand.Inspired by this art magazines cover. There will be small amount of text describing the clothes and the styles, but mainly the focus will be the photos of the outfits

Contact sheets for the photos I took of different outfits, I will use a couple and add the robot heads when I place on the magazine page layout.

The different fonts I've looked at on Dafont for the title and subtext I will add to the page, my title will be The Clothes Mix to represent the different styles I've tried to mix. Because of my Urban/Vintage theme of clothing I want to use Graffiti styled font thats clear and clean, instead of the types of graffiti where there's paint dripping or the bold writing being to big and hard to read. For example ....
More clear font, for example .....

Or maybe just keep the font simple but creative and have brush strokes for the text.
Other fonts I looked at.

THE PHOTOS
I had to clear the background so I used the Lasso tool on Photoshop to erase the background, I wanted the outline of the image not to be clean cut and have more of a messy look.
